Notes on Fixing Ubuntu 18.04 VM not Booting

Some notes so I remember how to fix this problem if it happens again and I don’t waste a bunch of time figuring it out right before a customer production release. Not a great start to my day.

This issue happened to me many moons ago when I first upgraded to VirtualBox 6 and Ubuntu 18. This is the second time so I better write down what I did so I hopefully remember if it happens a third time.

Extra Memory for my Virtual Machine

All my development work is done on virtual machines (VM), Virtual Box to be exact.  In the past I’ve only needed one VM open at a time and only one version Visual Studio, or other IDE, running in the VM.  On my Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM this was fine with the VM being allocated 1.5 GB of RAM.  Sometimes it would run slow but only for short durations and I could live with it.
