In this episode I (Chris), sorry no Omar, attempt some picoCTF (now CyLab) challenges. I picked the challenges randomly and ended up with a RSA (Small Trouble) and reverse engineering APK binary (Droids 4). Used the clanker (coding agent) to help with the APK challenge as I didn’t have a way to run the apk on my machine.

It was interesting to watch the clanker parse out the .so file. Have you used a clanker for cyber security? If so, what are your thoughts?

We try out Figma for some design ideas, it goes OK. Then we try the design idea, find out we don’t like it and switch back to our original design. We also spend some more time figuring out how to do nested dialog calls in Fyne. It’s not intuitive, at least not to me.

In our first ever completely live episode, Omar and myself debug a GitHub push error Omar was experiencing. It was a new error for both of us and took a bit to figure out. The error was:

error: RPC failed; HTTP 400 curl 22 The requested URL returned error: 400

The tl;dw (to-long;didn’t-watch) is the image was larger than the Git post buffer size. The fix was to compress the image, which is something we are doing for the Weekly Dev Chat website. Another fix is to increase the Git post buffer size.

We get a Proof of Concept (PoC) in Go that completes the LinkedIn authorization. We end up figuring out the difference between a LinkedIn code and token. Get a code by entering your LinkedIn username and password, then use that code to get a token. Apparently solving Advent of Code problems is not my strong suite. They remind me of university assignments which I never really liked and is a big reason for not perusing a Master’s or PhD. Hopefully someone will just give me an honorary Master’s or PhD one day.

In this episode I tackle the famous Gilded Rose refactoring kata as practice for my upcoming Edmonton .NET User Group (EDMUG) presentation. One of the great things about the Gilded Rose kata is the different ways to “solve” it. What would have done different then me?

In this video I migrate an Ubuntu VMWare Workstation hard disk to Hyper-V. I get stuck trying to enable enhanced session at the end. I think the problem is I need to set the EnhancedSessionTransportType to HvSocket:

Set-VM -VMName WsUbuntuExample -EnhancedSessionTransportType HvSocket

I’ll try that at a later date and let you know if works. Please let me know if you think above will work and if you have any improvements on migrating virtual machines.
