Notes on Fixing Ubuntu 18.04 VM not Booting

Some notes so I remember how to fix this problem if it happens again and I don’t waste a bunch of time figuring it out right before a customer production release. Not a great start to my day.

This issue happened to me many moons ago when I first upgraded to VirtualBox 6 and Ubuntu 18. This is the second time so I better write down what I did so I hopefully remember if it happens a third time.

Notes on Fixing Incomplete Bitcode Error in TeamCity Automated Objective-c Builds

Notes I took while trying to fix the Incomplete Bitcode error in submission bug.  Not sure if it’s fixed yet as I haven’t tried submitting an app to the App Store yet.  Hopefully someone else will try it and confirm it’s fixed.

In summary when submitting an app to iTunes Connect that has the XPlugins.iOS.BEMCheckBox the user got the following error:

ERROR ITMS-90668: “Invalid Bundle Executable. The executable file ‘InstantApp.BoostOrder.Customer.Touch.app/Frameworks/BEMCheckBox.framework/BEMCheckBox’ contains incomplete bitcode. To compile binaries with complete bitcode, open Xcode and choose Archive in the Product menu.”

Notes: Upgrade NUnit.Xamarin to NUnit 3.8.1

The notes I took when trying to upgrade the NUnit Xamarin project to NUnit 3.8.1.  The reason I did this was to fix issue #87.  When I try to us NUnit Xamarin on another project it fails with the following error:

D/Mono ( 2233): Assembly Loader probing location: 'System.Runtime.Loader'.
F/monodroid-assembly( 2233): Could not load assembly 'System.Runtime.Loader' during startup registration.
F/monodroid-assembly( 2233): This might be due to an invalid debug installation.

Remember these are just notes and lack the polish [what polish? –Ed] of my other technical articles.

Notes on Converting Mini-Compressor to UWP Application (Trying to at Least)

I was inspired to get Mini-Compressor to UWP into the Windows 10 Store a while back this summer. I saw this video several months ago when it was called Project Centennial:

https://channel9.msdn.com/Events/Build/2015/2-692

Then a couple weeks ago there was a form you could fill out and a Microsoft employee would help you convert your application.  So I filled out the form about my tiny little application called Mini-Compressor and was surprised when I heard back.  The fellow was very helpful but in the end we couldn’t get Mini-Compressor ported to UWP.

Installing Ruby on Rails 3.1 on Mac OS X 10.6 Notes

My notes for installing Ruby on Rails on 3.1 on Mac OS X 10.6.  This is not a tutorial or a how-to, just the notes I took as I tried to get Ruby on Rails up and running.

Rails + Mac

  1. By default Ruby 1.8.7 is installed on the Mac and I’ve installed X-Code 4.

  2. Surf the web a bit and find this website that talks about Mac Ports.  Download and install Mac Ports.
